The current fee for filing for divorce in the Los Angeles Superior Court is $350.00. Once you file your petition for dissolution of marriage, the other spouse has to pay $350.00 himself or herself, to respond to your petition for dissolution.
These fees will change from time to time due to bad economy. The court system is constantly increasing the filing fees to make up for the budget cuts and poor economy in the State of California.

Divorce in the United States is on the decline but that may have to do with other factors than that marriage are having more sucess. People who once might have web and then divorced now are not getting married at all.
The Divorce rate is 17.7 % per 1,000 married women. At the same time, the number of people getting married is also on a decline. A 50% drop since 1970 from 76.5% per 1,000 unmarried women to 39.9%.
The reason? Cohabitation. More and more people are living together now instead of getting married. Nevertheless, cohabiting couples have twice the breakup rate of married couples.
